Mercury Prize-nominated groove machine Django Django are back with a new album in the shape of Marble Skies on January 26, a new single with ‘Tic Tac Toe’ and two live dates in Edinburgh and Paris in November.

First things first, then – ‘Tic Tac Toe’. This is rollicking stuff indeed and the kind of upbeat calling card that augurs well for the new album. How many times have you been let down by a load of plod when what’s needed is something pumping with life and a hefty dose of zest to get your arse out of your armchair and on the floor? ‘Tic Tac Toe’ very much falls into the latter category and the video is a right hoot.

Directed by John Maclean – that’ll be the brother of Django Django drummer David Maclean – the video for ‘Tic Tac Toe’ finds singer/guitarist Vincent Neff’s trip into Hastings turning into something, well, altogether trippier. And you can have plenty of fun spotting the film references their rear their heads throughout.

Says director John Maclean: “The film could be about the fading era of the beach arcades, time moving too fast, love and games, horror and happiness but it is actually about a man who needs to go buy a pint of milk to make a cup of tea.”
